Acting as a multimedia center that allows users to share a range of media between varying devices, Nero MediaHome is a solid program that helps users arrange, keep track of, and enjoy their entertainment practically anywhere.

What Nero MediaHome Provides

Since the rise of the USB port, an impressive array of media centers have been released, including all types of software for different operating systems, and even hardware/software combo packs that cost a small fortune. For most people, however, a program like Nero MediaHome will more than suffice. That’s because this program pulls no punches when it comes to the types of media it shares: Music, photos, and videos of dozens of different file extensions.

The program was developed by Nero AG and is for the Windows 7 OS. Basically, it’s an organizational tool first and foremost. It works on your computer by allowing you to neatly organize your multimedia files. You can group photos using the “smart albums” feature, for example, which breaks up your media quite well based on facial recognition, tags, and keywords. It even comes equipped with a few editing tools, such as red-eye removal, different filters, etc.

After the content is neatly arranged, it can then be easily played on different devices. There's no lengthy waiting period while attaching all of your files to a thumb drive; if the device can access your computer, then you can play your PC's files directly on that device. This is great for new smart TVs, the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One, tablets, and other similar devices.

Nero MediaHome Features

Although the file size is large, Nero MediaHome still operates like a basic app, so it’s pretty straightforward in operation. It also features a unique and easy-to-use interface. As soon as you open the device, you will instantly see the option to automatically search for files. Once located, the files are already broken into groups according to type. You then only need to go through and designate different locations to build your media center. The ease of use earns huge points, primarily because you don’t have to search every nook and cranny of your hard drive to locate playable media.

Another good feature of Nero MediaHome is the Timeline feature. This goes beyond building a simple playlist and allows you to orchestrate high-quality slide shows and different video and music orders to play at different times.
